ROCKY

Rocky is a 1 year old, male, Malinois/Pit Bull/Lab Mix. Rocky was a free puppy given to a friend of a friend who never had a dog before. Soon after, he found himself looking for a new home when they could no longer care for him. Rocky is great with other dogs and loves to play. He is ok around dog savvy cats, but does try to play with them. He tolerates being swatted and hissed at but doesn’t really understand that as the cat’s queue to back off. He will keep trying to play. Rocky is house trained and crate trained and is doing great walking on leash. When he is uncomfortable in a new situation, he will try to back out of the collar to get away; other dogs help him feel more secure and confident. Rocky is learning not to jump on his people for attention. He is a clinger and loves to be with his foster mom or one of his foster brothers, but after only a short time in his foster home, he knows his routine well. When it’s time to crate up, he's comfortable being alone. Rocky has learned to love the fenced in yard in his foster home and loves to play with his housemates outside or sit up on the picnic table and sunbathe. He is an energetic dog who would do best in a home with an active person or another active/playful dog to play with. Rocky is super smart and learns things pretty quickly. Training on various basics (or more) will mentally stimulate him and help him be the best boy he can be. While Rocky previously lived with children ages 4 and 7, he played with them like he would a dog, jumping on them and pulling at their clothes. For this reason, we will only be placing him in a home with children over the age of 13 who are comfortable around active dogs. Rocky is neutered, microchipped, up to date with vaccinations. . Applicants must live within 60minutes driving distance of Mercer County, NJ. A vet check will be conducted for each application for me and a solid vet history for current and past pets will be verified.
