River

River is the proverbial perfect dog. Purebred Great Pyrenees neutered male, UTD on all vacs, worming, double dew claws. 5-1/2 yrs old. Elderly owner taken to hospital & passed away, it was "some time" before city officials & neighbors noticed that River & his companions were not being cared for or fed. River has gained back 18 lbs since coming into rescue 10 weeks ago. He has successfully completed treatment for heart worm disease & is recovering fully. This dog is a dream on a leash, perfect gentleman at the vet or anywhere in public. Totally house trained, gentle & loving with cats, other dogs, all people. Gentle & quiet as a feather in the house. River is a very large dog, he is 29" tall at the shoulder & 51" long from nose to base of tail (not including tail). He needs space to stretch out & often we find him in the hallway here, stretched out & sound asleep & snuggled up with a kitty. We'd like for River to have a spayed/neutered canine companion & the loving forever indoor home he deserves. This dog has no vices, no faults. He is a healthy, kind hearted, loving soul, & as near perfect as we've ever seen in rescue. Pics do not do him justice, he is beautiful. Above ground fenced yard (no exceptions) required, plus home visit, veterinary reference, and adoption contract. Adoption fee $300 plus $150 transport fee to northeastern US.
