My Story

Meet Ringo, the 1 year old Great Dane mix with a unique personality. He was found playing with kids at a school in Texas, but wound up on the euthanasia list for space at the local tiny high kill shelter that is chronically over capacity. He's mastered house training, but doesn't signal when he needs to go out, preferring a set routine. While he's getting used to crate training and enjoys relaxing in it during the day, he'd rather not be crated at night (needs it though). Ringo isn't destructive as long as he's entertained and crated when alone. He alerts his people by barking when people come by, but he doesn’t bark much. He’s a good fit for households with other big dogs (or none) and older children as he doesn’t realize his size and can knock smaller kids over by accident. He truly does love kids and would love to be a part of a family with some. His energy level makes him an excellent companion for running, hiking, and long walks. In terms of training, Ringo knows basic commands like Sit, Stay, No, and Release (when he’s allowed to start eating his food), & he is very food motivated. He's a very curious boy and needs mental stimulation, while preferring to be included rather than left alone. He’s not a fan of cuddling yet (he may have never known that life)! He loves rubbing his head against people he likes. Sometimes when he gives you a head rub, his shoulder follows along with his back and it turns into a whole body rub from Ringo. While he doesn't require another dog at home, he does need a fenced yard as he enjoys wandering. Overall, Ringo thrives with human companionship and an active lifestyle. DISCLAIMER- Breed type is determined based on general appearance and behavioral characteristics and cannot be guaranteed unless DNA test results or AKC registration were provided at intake. ***MOST OF OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN TEXAS, BUT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AND TRANSPORT OUT OF STATE.
