Riley

This beautiful girl has had quite the journey and is now ready to move on to her forever home. She has been through so much the past few months and has proven to be very resilient. Here is what her foster mom has to say about her: Riley is approximately 4 years old. She came to us from a local shelter with a severely broken left rear leg that required immediate amputation. Since that surgery she has adapted extremely well and runs around and play with other dogs. She has adapted well to being a tripod and has no mobility issues. She loves going on walks and is the one leading the way in front enthusiastically. She is a very gentle soul once you get to know her, but she does take a minute or two to warm up to new people. She will initially be a little growly, but she has never nipped or bitten anyone. If you are patient with her, you will have a lovely companion who will ask to come up into your lap even though she's a little big to be a lap dog! She's crate trained and sleeps quietly overnight in the crate. She gets along well with other dogs, large and small. We don’t know how she is with cats . Due to her initial nervousness in new situations, we recommend a home with no small children. If given time to adjust, we feel she would be fine with older kids. When she first came to us, she had some potty issues which is understandable after spending two weeks in a shelter and then another two weeks recovering from her surgery. Getting her on a regular schedule has helped immensely. She may piddle a tiny bit if she's nervous or excited about going out. Riley is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and heartworm negative . She is up-to-date on flea and tick and heartworm preventative. Riley is currently being fostered in South Lyon.
