Rikki!

Rikki was just rescued from the Merced Shelter and can't wait to find a home to call her own! Here is what we know about her so far, and the site will be updated as we learn more!:

Rikki is a bouncy, friendly girl that loves to give kisses. She is approximately 12 months old and about 50 pounds. She seems to love children and is currently living with a dog and kitty ...although she does tend to chase the cat if she runs! She still has some puppy energy so would like an active family that will include her in their daily activities. Rikki wil need a dog experienced home....one that will appreciate her qualities and let her do what she loves best - go for daily runs! :o)

Here is more about what her fostermom has observed:

Behavior wise, Rikki is a beautiful, sweet dog that has to run, not walk, and get lots of exercise to be happy and behave. She has a free spirit, a very strong will, and is very intelligent. She will need someone who has a will stronger than hers, as she is still young and is still testing her boundaries. She now knows sit, come, and stay but only does them when she wants to in exchange for only treats that she likes :o) She knows how to heel but will only do so when encouraged by a training collar. She appears to be very good with all other animals and will run and play with everyone at the dogpark. She might prefer to be the only dog in a household because she does get jealous for me to give any attention, toy, bone, affection or even a petting to my dog. She will drop hers and go after my dog's object. She hoards all the dog toys and bones my dog has in her mouth and puts them in her bed :o) Rikki is an awesome dog and if I didn't have my dog already, I would adopt her.
