My Story

Meet Rico. Seriously, you have got to meet Rico! Rico, aka Little Ricci, Pipsqueak or Midget, is an adorable 6 pound male chi mix who is about 3 years old and ready for a home. Rico was picked up as a stray alongside another dog. Though Rico is estimated to be around 3 years old, he acts more like a puppy. He loves other dogs, loves to play with them and loves toys, especially squeaky toys! He loves to run and will go full speed every chance he gets. Rico’s foster mom says that Rico doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. Rico is shy at first and may take a few days to warm up to new people, but once he is used to his people and surroundings, he makes himself right at home. He will snuggle on your lap or lay next to you. Rico is working hard on his house training skills, so he needs to be taken out regularly and he will also use pee pads. In fact, he may prefer them, especially when the weather isn’t nice. Rico is now going all night without needing to go potty. He will wake you up when he needs to go. Rico is skittish on leash and is also working on leash training, so a fenced yard would be necessary at this time. He tends to walk in front of his foster mom, backwards, and is quite adept at it. Rico will eat just about anything; foster mom hasn’t found anything he won’t eat! He does not bark a lot, except when it’s time for food or treats, so the sooner he gets his, the better. Rico is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations. He is on monthly heartworm prevention and is heartworm negative. Rico’s adoption donation is $300. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. To submit an application go here……chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled. Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative. Reference checks and a home visit are required so our southeast dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD and GA.
