My Story

Meet Reeses....
First let me say this dog is BEAUTIFUL! Deep red in color with a dark black nose. She is a Mastiff/Pit mix about 2 yrs old. This dog was found by animal control in a smashed up van 2 days after the accident happened. She was traveling with her family and there was an accident. The family was taken to the hospital but the poor dog was left behind, A towing company found her in the van & contacted animal control. She was then taken to a gassing shelter where she remained for over 2 months. They were told the family was going to come back for her. Two months later for what ever reason they contacted the shelter and said they were not coming. That is when we intercepted her. This dog was not brought to the pound because she was a "bad dog" she found herself there due to an unfortunate event. We felt she was a good rescue because she was a loved family pet now in need of a good home. Her time was up and was due to be gassed so here she is in NJ.
She came to us very skinny and the day she arrived we took her to the vet only to find she was also heart worm positive. She has been with us now since July 18 and has undergone 2 treatments for heartworm. This dog is doing very well now and is almost ready for a home. She is spayed, utd on shots, has been wormed & will be put on heart worm preventative/Advantix. We named her Reese because she is as sweet as ever.
She gets along with all our rescue dogs but does NOT like cats. She is extremely aggressive towards them. She has been good around strangers and wonderful with our kids. She is very timid & shy. We don't know if it is from the trauma of the accident but she is on the reservee side. It has taken a long time to come out of her shell. She does play & interact but settles down as soon as you tell her to stop. Once she gets use to her surroundings she is fine. She loves walks and is wonderful on the leash. She is also completely crate trained and 100% house broken. This dog has been a pleasure to get to know and any family that adopts her will be proud to have her. It has been our privileged to foster her.
We require an adoption application, home visit, and donation.
