Rascal - on trial

Rascal is an interesting looking fellow - he appears to be a border collie with heeler colouring and one blue eye. He is approx 11 months old (May 1). Being a collie cross and young, he's a high energy fellow who should have regular exercise and would do best on a farm/acreage where there is room to run. He does get along with other dogs and has been in a home with children though we would suggest because of his energy level and herding instinct, the children in his new home should be older kids. He's been an indoor and outdoor dog and is apparently house trained and previously lived with a small dog, cat and bird and boys aged 6 and 10. He likes to play fetch with rope toys or kongs and loves squeaky toys. He apparently travels well and enjoys riding in a vehicle and previously was taken on hunting trips and was not gun shy. He's accustomed to bathing and grooming and does bark as warning when strangers approach his home. We have a volunteer who's currently working on obedience training and manners with Rascal; he's a smart guy and is learning well, but a new owner should be willing to keep up with obedience training and be a strong pack leader. Our dog adoption fee is $160 which includes spay/neuter, shot, rabies shot and microchip.
