It's hard to select which pictures to post of this cute pup. He's adorable in all of them! Ramsey has the short legs and longer body of a basset hound, with the brindle markings and face of a Pit bull. He's super cute, and super sweet. Ramsey is about six months old. Ramsey is currently in a foster home with cats and he is learning his manners. Training will be key to developing this sweet boy into the great adult companion we know he will be.
Ramsey is just a love bug -- he has yet to meet a person he doesn't want to give kisses to. He also loves to play with other dogs, but doesn't necessarily know when to leave a littler dog alone. He is crate trained and is getting better about going into the crate on his own. He is not house broken and should not be left alone unattended in the house -- he's getting better about asking to go outside for potty but isn't consistent about it. He has very good manners when he's not super excited -- he knows how to sit politely if he wants something. However, he will jump up if he gets excited about something and tends to jump up in greeting new people. He is very calm about strangers approaching the door and is generally very quiet -- I usually only hear him barking if he wants to play with the cats and the cats don't want to play with him. He does chase my cats but doesn't try to bite or grab them; but he should not be left unsupervised with cats since he doesn't know when to leave them alone and the cats may just get fed up with his puppy exuberance and hurt him. He rides great in a car and is usually very good about getting in/out on command. He is mouthy in play. He's also very bouncy and will do a little prance while playing. He plays nicely with his own toys (and with the cats' toys) and is very good about not chewing things he shouldn't chew.
Adoption Process: We are not first come first served. Indigo Rescue focuses on finding good matches between dogs and families to ensure life long adoptions. We deliver all dogs to their new homes.
All of our dogs are in foster homes. We have adoption events at the Beaverton PetSmart every other Saturday where you can meet many of our dogs at once. Click Here for our Calendar of Events. Or, if you're interested in a particular dog, you can send an e-mail via the e-mail link at the bottom of the page ("Email Indigo Rescue") with answers to the questions below. If the dog seems compatible with your situation we'll set up a time for you to meet the dog.
Do you have other pets now? (briefly describe)
Have you had pets in the past? What became of them?
What kind of exercise will you provide for the dog? (type/frequency)
What is your schedule like? How long/often will the dog be alone?
Where will the dog be while you're gone? Where will the dog be when you're home? Where will the dog sleep?
Who else lives in the home? Do you have children? How old are the children?
Are you in a home or apartment? How long have you lived there? Do you have a fully, securely fenced yard? (type/height)
Do you own or rent your home?
What changes in your life are likely in the next 10+ years (or life span of the dog) and how will the changes affect the dog? (moving, job or schedule change, school, having children)
Anything else you'd like us to consider in finding the right dog for your family?
Thank you for your interest in adopting and saving a life!
