Foster Update - Quincy's foster says, "he is the most loving creature on the planet!" Wow, what more could an adopter want?
Quincy has settled into a nice routine, playful for about an hour when they get home from work and then happy to settle back on the couch. He is eating well and now weighs about 85 pounds. His cuts and scratches have all healed and he is down to one small hot spot on his paw that may be due to an allergy. Quincy continues to be excellent with children of all ages and is also friendly with all other dogs he has come into contact with. Quincy's leash skills have improved considerably and he tugs much less than when he first came into rescue. His favorite toys are still tennis balls although he also enjoys a good "tug of war". Quincy is now healthy and thriving and ready to find his forever home. If you are looking for a fantastic family pet, apply for Quincy.
Update - Quincy was neutered about 2 weeks ago and hasn't missed a beat. The vet is pleased with his healing and also notes that his last small sore spot on his paw is almost healed too. Poor Quincy came into rescue with lots of scratches and abrasions which he acquired during his days as a stray.
Quincy is very affable and friendly and was recently invited for a playdate with 2 neighborhood Labs. All 3 dogs had a wonderful time romping in the neighbor's fenced backyard. When indoors, Quincy loves his couch time but has also discovered chew toys and tennis balls, both of which he loves to carry around in his mouth. His foster mom has since modified her description of Quincy's perfect home from one with couches everywhere to one with couches and tennis balls everywhere.
If you're looking for a mellow, lovable Lab who is great with children and other dogs, apply for Quincy.
Update - Quincy continues to do terrific in his foster home. His mom is helping him put on a little weight and the scratches and sores he had, from his time as a stray, have almost completely healed. His foster mom observes that he is very friendly and was great during a recent visit by neighbors who stopped by with their toddler to say hello. True to his docile Lab nature, Quincy has exhibited no food issues and gets along well with other dogs. He does get excited and pulls a little when walked but they are working on that. He recently discovered tennis balls and tug toys and loves to play. Quincy seems well mannered and secure and has not exhibited any fears. His foster notes he practically sits on the vacuum and is completely unfazed by the noise. Quincy has adjusted amazingly well to life in his foster home and will make a wonderful pet for some lucky family.
Foster Update - Quincy has been with his foster family for just over a week. His foster mom tells us this lovable Lab has a moderate activity level and loves car rides, especially if his head is completely out the window. He does not seem to like his crate but is so well behaved he really doesn't need it. Quincy is good with other dogs, seems OK with cats and loves her two teenagers. He does not really seem to know basic commands, even for treats, nor is he very good on a leash as he pulls and, "just wants to go . . . ". But she says, "He's one of the most loving, trusting animals I have ever met. He will make some family a wonderful pet." He likes to get a lot of attention, probably to make up for all he has missed. When asked to describe his perfect home she quips, one with "couches everywhere"! If you are looking for an affectionate and loyal companion, apply for Quincy.
Original Bio - This adorable Yellow Lab, named Quincy, desperately needs to find a loving, new home. He is the sweetest boy ever and will melt your heart with his big brown eyes and goofy smile. He is about 8 years old and deserves to spend his golden years getting all the love and affection he deserves. Quincy was picked up as a stray, underweight and with scratches and marks all over him. Yet the rough life he must have had prior to getting here did not affect his sweet nature, loving attitude or trust in people. He is an amazing dog! If you are looking for a loyal companion and friend please apply for Quincy and give him a second chance!
