My Story

I am Pumpkin Pie but my foster parents like to call me Matilda-May. Whenever they say my name I just wiggle and wiggle! Actually, I wiggle whenever they say anything to me! I have been with my foster parents for a little while now and they told me that I am a very special girl. I have a big brother at home who is about my size and we have tons of fun together. I love playing with him, chasing him and curling up next to him. My parents put our dog beds together in the living room but I usually end up just sharing one with him. The closer the better, right???? He lets me take his toys and bones away since I’m younger than him but, I am working on getting better at sharing though. When I’m not following my big brother around- I love to be with my parents. I am the happiest in their lap. My parents keep telling me that I’m too big to be a “lap dog” but I just don’t understand. I really love to curl up in their laps and watch TV on the couch with them (Animal Planet is my favorite). I also love to snuggle and I usually get my own pillow when I get in bed! Every girl should be treated like a princess *wink wink*! I am learning some basic commands and now I know how to shake! I can sort of sit too but I’m not very good at staying in my sit. I just get too excited because I know they are going to give me a treat!!! My foster mom tells me that I remind her of Jaws when I take treats, we are working on being a little more gentle (I’m just so darn excited about it!). My parents are also tying to teach me to go lay down but I’d rather be with them on the couch. I am trying really hard to learn this though. I am almost completely potty trained (this makes my foster mom very happy)!!! Sometimes I need to go out a little more often than my big brother because after all, I am still just a puppy! When my parents go to work, they put me in my crate. I really like my crate because they make me a super yummy peanut butter Kong and put it in there with me. Plus, my crate is across from my big brother’s crate and we can talk to each other all day! My parents work split shifts so I am never in my crate for more than four or five hours which is great! I also sleep in my crate but it’s in my parents’ bedroom so I still feel close to them. They put my princess bed and blankie in my crate for me at night and my big brother sleeps in his bed next to me. I really like for all of us to be together! _____________ Pumpkin Pie is an extremely loving dog and would make a fabulous addition to your home. She is very very very people centered and wants to be the apple of your eye. She does great with our dog and seems to do well with other dogs. She is a big girl and she can unintentionally over power smaller dogs. We are unsure of how she would do with cats since we do not have one. We think she’d do well with older children because again, she tends to not realize her size when she is playing etc. If you are looking for a dog you can leave out in your yard and interact with once a day, this is not the dog for you. If you are looking for a loving, large dog and you are willing to put some effort into training- this is the dog for you! Pumpkin responds very well to consistency in her training and positive rewards- this girl is eager to please and loves treats!
