This is Poppy and she is a seven lb lil' Chi chi. Her given name is Popeye but the staff have renamed her Poppy.
She was turned into the shelter by her owners, who where very sad to give her up but she had become extremely wary of the neighborhood children and they didn't want to put the children or Poppy at risk.
When Poppy came to us she was very aggressive towards people and other animals but has really been coming around and frequently plays with the staff's dogs and now jumps up to greet us and loves to give kisses. We feel she really needed to be socialized more with people and other dogs and are so happy to see such an improvement in her behavior.
Poppy needs a quiet home with adults. She loves to ride in the car, is House broken, and listens well.
She is very cautious of strangers. You might need to come and visit with her several times before she can go home with you. Once you gain her trust she will love you for life and is definitely a staff favorite.
