My Story

Breed: German shepherd mix DOB: 05/22/2024 Sex: Spayed female Weight: 12 pounds Approximate adult weight: 60 pounds Foster near Grand Rapids, MI HI! I’m Poppy! My bother and I came to APB from a shelter down south. We don’t exactly know our breeds, but we all look like we have Shepherd in us. My foster mom says I look like “Dobby” but I don’t know who that is! I am a spunky and crazy little puppy dog. My feet don’t always cooperate with my body, especially when I jump and spin around. I do love to snuggle, but sometimes I tell my foster parents I want to snuggle then change my mind and bite their noses or ears…apparently they don’t like that as much as my brother does. I love to play with the big dogs too, but they don’t like it when I just run into them and body slam them. Boring big dogs! I like to try to play with kitties too! I like to stick close to my humans when I’m outside, even if my brother doesn’t. I tried to chase a duck once, and ducks are mean! I love to roll around in the grass outside and sniff things but only if everyone else is outside too. I am a good girl in my crate, but sometimes at night I do have to go potty, so I whimper and mom lets me out to potty, then I get a cookie and go right back to bed, until the sun comes up and it’s play time again! She gives me a big crate for when she leaves during the day and I go potty on a wee wee pad like I’m supposed to, she’s gone too long to hold it like the big dogs do, but I don’t potty on my blankies. I am still working on having this stupid collar on and I hate it, it itches me! So we haven’t worked on leash training yet, I’m not sure how that’s going to go! Time will tell, I guess! I’m still a baby and have much to learn! I’m going to be a great dog when I grow up as long as you teach me how! I think I’m pretty darned smart already! Do you want a new snuggle buddy? A new adventure pal? I like going bye-bye too, take me fun places please! If you have any questions, please email [email protected] . Please fill out our adoption application at: https://apbdogs.org/apply-for-adoption/. Animal Placement Bureau's standard adoption fee is $250. Our adoption process includes an application, personal and vet reference checks, and a home visit. We do not ship dogs under any circumstances. We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check our events page at https://apbdogs.org/category/about-us/ for the dates and locations of our next meet and greet. Appointments outside of these events to visit our dogs are available after an application has been filled out, and processing has begun. Please be kind to our volunteers. E-mail inquiries will be answered much faster than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only. If you'd like to apply to adopt one of our dogs, please fill out the online application
