My Story

Poppy was pulled from a shelter when she was very pregnant. We got her into a foster home and she sadly began to have seizures. She was able to safely birth her 6 puppies but had no milk production, so they were pulled away from her and bottle fed. We were able to put her on seizure medication that has prevented them from occurring. We were hopeful that we could wean her off the meds if her seizures were due to pregnancy, but sadly she did have one recently that tells us she is a lifelong user of the meds. Thankfully those meds are inexpensive and she takes them like a champ. We hope that it doesn't scare anyone away, because administering a pill in her food twice a day is a small price to pay for such an amazing dog. Here are some notes from her foster family: "I truly have never met a dog as affectionate and loving as Poppy. I’ve been saying that she will be someone’s “soul dog.” She wants to be the center of your world. For a pup that’s been through so much, she is still constantly wagging her tail and looking for love. One of her many nicknames is “Thumpelina” because her tail is always happy thumping. She is a velcro dog and has been my shadow since we got her. Poppy is incredibly calm and mild-tempered but still loves to play with her foster siblings. Her favorite place to be is in your arms or laying as close to you as possible. When she comes in for a cuddle, she cuddles with her whole body and burrows herself into you! Poppy is a submissive girl who has tested well with every dog she has met. She met children at an event and LOVED them. Poppy walks incredibly on the leash and doesn't pull. She does not require a ton of activity. She loves a good walk but is content being a couch hippo! She has proven herself trustworthy of being left out of the crate. She is not destructive at all, however, she does have some separation anxiety and would do best with at least one other dog in the home to keep her company while the humans are away.” Poppy is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and preventions, and microchipped.
