My Story

To learn more about Pooh Bear, please email Daisy (foster) at [email protected] Meet Pooh Bear the dog with the most expressive ears! Once you get to know him, you'll learn his ears make him quite the effective communicator! Pooh Bear is a morning lark. He loves to get his day started when the sun is up and thrives on a schedule. Once he's fed and walks, he's very content to hang out by a window or screen door to look outside while you work from home or run errands. He'll come to bother you when it's time for dinner! Pooh Bear has been left home alone uncrated (~8-10 hours) with no issue. He is 62% Australian Cattle Dog, an intelligent boy, and easy to train! He loves his fruits & veggies and is extremely food-motivated! He is house-trained and knows the following commands: sit, down, place, wait, leave it, look, find it, and this way! He's a young medium-high energy dog, closer to the high side. He's relaxed in the home but will need a good amount of mental and physical exercise to channel his herding dog energy. He loves a variety of toys, puzzles, and indoor games. He's a fast runner and loves wide-open fields! He's not a super strong dog and is easy on the wrists when leash walking. He doesn't pull often but will give the occasional tug when his nose has found something or he sees a squirrel. Pooh Bear is interested in wildlife on walks and will try to chase outdoor cats he sees. Pooh Bear can be a bit dog-selective, preferring dogs his size or smaller. But with proper--sometimes multiple--slow introductions, he has done well and even participates in weekly pack walks & play dates. He loves car rides, and his foster parent thinks he's memorized the map routes and knows which dog they are going to see when they're driving! In new environments and among unfamiliar faces, Pooh Bear could benefit from your support in building confidence. Despite being initially cautious, this affectionate fellow reveals his warmth once trust is established, a process that may take some time. He loves falling on his back for belly rubs or moving his behind towards you for back scritches, sometimes even sitting down in your lap! Sudden, loud, and swift motions startle Pooh Bear. Patience and understanding are key traits for someone assisting him in adapting to new surroundings, allowing him to progress at his own pace. Pooh Bear is looking for a calm, adult-only, only-pet home. And would do best in a townhome or single-family home with a fenced-in backyard. Will you be the Piglet to this Pooh Bear and show him the world's not so scary? For more pictures and videos of Pooh Bear, please visit him on Instagram @dmvdoggies
