My Story

Budderific (Buddy) is a sweet 11 year old male Poo-chon who was surrendered to a local shelter through no fault of his own. The local shelter reached out to LWDR because Buddy couldn't stay in the shelter because of his Addison's disease. Buddy is potty trained but he does "mark" in his foster home. It may be less when he is in his permanent home. He is very food motivated and loves his treats. Buddy is super laid back and he loves to cuddle. He will need another fur sibling in his new home to play with. Buddy loves to wrestle and play with the resident dogs in his foster home. He will require a fenced yard because he loves to run and play off leash. He is very fast. He also tries to door dart. Buddy's adoption fee is 300.00 He is already neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations. Buddy didn't get his daily meds for his Addison's for a period of time so we are working with our vet team to gradually get him back on the correct dose where he needs to be. After his meds are at the right level he will need a dental. Dogs with Addison's require an injection every 28 days and a daily oral medicine. The bottle of medicine for his shots is 200.00 and will last for several months. Buddy will also need blood checks every 14 days for awhile to ensure that he is receiving the correct dosages of his meds. Buddy's new family will need to be prepared to continue his medical treatment and medicines for the rest of his life. Dogs with Addison's can live a long and happy life. Update: April 2 - Buddy is doing well with his current medicine dosage and schedule. He loves to go on car rides and to hang out with his family. Buddy wears a belly band since he likes to mark in his foster home. He is a happy guy that would love to find his fur ever home. Update March 2021: Buddy lost a little weight when he went in for his last shot. We are adding an acid reflux medicine to see if that will help. We are an all-volunteer rescue located in Omaha, Nebraska. All dogs are cared for in volunteer foster homes until they are adopted. We do not have a facility. LWDR does not ship or transport dogs. Approved out of area adoptions are considered. Adopters must be willing to travel to the Omaha area to complete adoption and take their new family member home as soon as their dog is medically and behaviorally cleared for adoption.
