My Story

Pongo Breed: Catahoula Leopard Hound Mix Age: 8 year +/- est Weight: 50 lbs Medical: Up-To Up-To-Date on Vaccinations, microchipped, altered Cat Friendly: No Dog Friendly: Yes Kid Friendly: Ages 7+ House Trained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Location: Pennsylvania Pongo is 8 years old and weighs 50lbs. He is a stunning white and gray Catahoula. Pongo is very much the happy-go-lucky type once he settles in. He lives for evenings of belly rubs and snuggles. Pongo does have a brother and we would LOVE to see them go together; however, it is not mandatory. If, you are interested Bongo is 7 years old and weighs 50lbs. He is a gorgeous black and gray Catahoula with a big, confident personality. Bongo is pretty unphased by most things, even tolerating bath time. His one vice is cats. He does not like them at all and has no interest in being friendly with them. A couple things to know about both dogs: NO cats, dogs are o.k. after slow introductions. The boys are good with children & adults after slow introductions but do prefer females over males. The boys are house and crate trained. They sleep in the create together at night without issue. They love the outdoors and car rides. They do well on leash. They are very treat motivated and ice cream is their absolute favorite! They do very well with structure and routine. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family. If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered. Pongo’s adoption donation is $300 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test, is on preventative, microchip and neuter depending on age at time of adoption. If you decide that you would like to adopt both Bongo and Pongo, the adoption donation will be $450 total. We do not have a physical shelter; all our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
