Pongo

When Pongo was brought to our shelter, he showed us his impressive climbing escape artist skills by jumping out of his kennel - the only dog we've ever had do so. He might not be a great rule-follower, but he IS great at meeting other dogs and people. Pongo is dog-friendly, has shown potential with cats, and likes every person he's ever met. He knows there is a wonderful world outside the shelter, and he wants nothing more than to get to live in it. We think Pongo could do well with children. However, he is prone to jumping on people and could knock smaller children over. Pongo is a smart, treat-motivated dog who catches onto commands quickly. He's high energy, strong, and a natural athlete. Being in a dog-savvy, active household will benefit him tremendously. He loves going for walks, hiking, and playing in water. Pongo is still working on his leash manners and will require more obedience training. With a person or family who is willing to work with him, Pongo will make an amazing forever pup. A yard with a high fence is a must for Pongo. He should always be left outside on a lead and not ever be unattended.
