Poncho

Meet Poncho! Poncho is a sweet male chihuahua believed by the vet to be around 7 years old. Poncho is in need of a new home. Poor Poncho is the victim of a broken home due to divorce, and his dad is physically unable to care for him at this time. Poncho is a very sweet boy. He is a snuggler and will follow his person around the house. He gets along great with his foster mom’s pack of 4 and he does great with his foster mom’s grandchildren, too! His foster mom believes he is the perfect dog for a senior or someone who is home often, as he is perfectly happy being a couch potato. He doesn’t play with other dogs and when the other dogs start playing, Poncho just gets up on the couch to observe. Poncho can be protective of his human and may growl rarely if he senses danger but does not snap or bite. He is house and crate trained but prefers to sleep with his humans and snuggle all night. Poncho is pee pad trained and also goes out to the backyard at his foster home when he needs to go potty. He does have some marking behaviors that his foster mom is working with him to improve on. Poncho is 15 pounds and as such is quite overweight. His foster mom has been taking him on leash walks the past few weeks and he is doing great so far. He walks ¾ of a mile twice daily currently and has no problem keeping up with the pack. The ultimate goal is for Poncho to reach a healthy weight. Despite Poncho’s weight, he can jump up onto the couch when he doesn’t feel like using the doggy stairs. Poncho appears healthy otherwise. Poncho’s adoption donation is $300.00. Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative. Reference checks and a home visit are required so SE dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD and GA.
