ADOPTED! - Polka is a gentle, sweet dog who is full of energy, but he also makes a great couch potato (and he has a very soft coat)! He enjoys playing with other dogs (he frequently goes to doggie day care so he knows how to play with a variety of other sizes and breeds of dogs). Polka loves people and he's good with kids who treat him with respect (and he's a great stick-fetcher too) so he would be a wonderful family dog! Polka is one or two years old, he weighs about 50 lbs., and he is in excellent health. Our best guess is that he is a mix of Lab/Beagle/Cattle Heeler, and in our opinion he has the best traits from each of those breeds! (He has no inclination to "herd", but....his markings are much like a Cattle Heeler's.) Polka says: "My DNA is drawn from a vast pool of canine strains thereby minimizing my chances of being afflicted with any of the congenital problems traditionally associated with inbreeding" (See how smart Polka is?) Polka loves to learn new things and is very eager to please. He has already learned "sit", and he would be the star of any obedience class he attended! Polka's adoption fee is $250 and he has been neutered, microchipped, checked for intestinal parasites, immunized, and heartworm tested. We are looking for a home with a safely fenced yard for Polka (please, no invisible fencing) and preferably a home with another dog for him to play with. Polka loves to be with his people, so we don't want him to have to be a "latchkey" dog where he is left home alone for eight or nine hours a day. So, an owner who is retired (or semi-retired)--or an owner who works out of his/her home--would be perfect for Polka. If you think you would be a good fit for Polka, please e-mail us at:
[email protected] and tell us about yourself, your schedule, your other family members/pets, etc. Then, if we feel you could provide the type of home we're looking for, we will e-mail you an adoption application to fill out.
Please click on "One Starfish Rehoming Connections" under the photo to read more about our rescue's adoption policies and fees. We do not operate a humane society or shelter, so we do not have a facility that is open to the public. Our dogs are fostered by volunteers in private homes, and are not available for viewing until an adoption application is filled out and references are checked. Please read the information on our home page (by clicking on our rescue name above this dog's photo) before contacting us.
