My Story

Love teddy bears? If so, this big guy is for you! Polar is a neutered male Great Pyrenees. We estimate his birthdate at around 6/2008. Polar came to us after he showed up at a home and wouldn't go away. He was hungry & looked scraggly. The "chosen rescuer" has a job that take him away from the home quite frequently and could not keep Polar - although he would have liked to. Despite being thin, Polar weighs in around 100 lbs. He is definitely the largest dog we have at our shelter right now. He is also the most gentle dog we have at our shelter right now. Polar has shown absolutely no aggression - he is actually afraid of new dogs until he figures out they won't hurt him. He does not participate in any fights & is seems to be fine with cats. The worst habit Polar has is that he does like to jump up on people. He will hug you & lay his head against your chest for a short loves session. Although we don't know if Polar was a runner or if he was abandoned, Great Pyrenees in general tend to roam & run. If you are looking for a dog that just stays in the yard, Polar may or may not be the right choice. But if you ware looking for a big, gentle teddy bear of a dog, this guy is definitely for you!
