My Story

I am a cute 5 year old Miniature American Eskimo cross. I look just like an American Eskimo but I also have some really cool black markings on my ears, paws and near my nose. I'm about 15 inches at the should and maybe 15lbs or so. My foster mom calls me Pixie Trixie 'cause I know lots of tricks. I can sit, shake a paw, spin, roll over and play dead. I am also working on learning to lie down and stay.

My favourite activities are playing tug and fetch, getting tummy rubs, ripping up stuffies and playing with water (see video). I lived with 5 cats at my previous home and am respectful of them. I am good with other dogs once I have had a slow controlled off leash introduction. I am getting along well with the other 3 dogs at my foster home. My foster mom says we have to work on my leash manners as I always want to pull and will lunge and bark a lot at other dogs. I haven't been around kids very much and would likely be good only with children 12 years and older.

I have a typical personality of an American Eskimo. That means I like to bark especially at other dogs and I tend to be protective of my people, home, yard and car. I will need a kind but firm owner otherwise I will try to take over and be the boss. My foster mom is currently using the Nothing In Life Is Free (NILIF) method to promote good behaviour in a positive way. You can read about it at http://www.ddfl.org/behavior/nilif.pdf It would be would be beneficial if you had knowledge of the American Eskimo breed. I am spayed, housetrained, cratetrained, microchipped and have all my vaccinations. Fill out an Adoption Application if you are interested in adopting me. I can't wait to find my new home!

NEW HOPE DOG RESCUE is not a shelter. Our dogs are placed in loving foster homes. WE NEED FOSTER HOMES TO HELP MORE DOGS - CONTACT US TODAY!!!

Definitions:

Pending - means that we are working through the adoption process with the 1st applicant. We usually don't add the pending until we are pretty sure the adoption will go through (like at the home visit stage)

On Trial or Trial Visit - means that the dog is in their new home for up to 2 weeks before the adopters need to commit to keeping the dog. We want to make sure that everyone is happy with the new living arrangements! We allow this option for everyone except very long distance adoptions (too far to drive).

Adopted - you know!! A happy ending for a homeless dog. We try to let everyone know when we have the final word. Within about 24 hours, the dog's bio will be moved to our happy tails section!
