My Story

**FENCE REQUIRED** ***FOSTERED IN MILTON, FL*** Meet Pixie! Pixie is not just your ordinary Great Dane – she's a stunning 2.5-year-old dane with a personality as unique as her coat color. This sweet, but timid, light fawn/chocolate/blue merle dane girl is shy when it comes to humans, but she's an absolute social butterfly among her furry friends. Pixie came into rescue after having been bounced around in several homes in her short life already. We know she's previously lived with kids and cats too. But she's been bounced around a lot. Because of this, Pixie has learned to rely on the comfort and company of other dogs, they play a crucial role in helping her adjust to new environments. She's never met a dog she didn't like, and she learns from them how to trust and navigate her surroundings. Pixie is currently living in foster care with four other large-breed dogs. Though it took her some time to warm up to her foster dads, Alex and Zach, Pixie has made remarkable progress over the past couple of months. She loves her snuggle time on the couch with Alex (the Dane DNA is strong in this one) and she now seeks Zach out for affection, especially when there's food involved! Speaking of food, Pixie is a big fan!! Treats are her love language, and she's more than willing to work for them (or just sneak them off your plate if you're not paying attention...) Pixie isn't a huge fan of people grabbing for her neck or collar. It spooks her, and she tends to bolt when she's scared. For this reason, she absolutely will require a privacy fence. She would likely do best in a household without really young kids and a lot of random foot traffic in and out. Even with a fenced in yard at her foster dads' house, it took her a while to gather up the courage to come back inside the house after running around and playing with the pack. But eventually treats won out.. Did we mention she loves treats? Pixie is crate trained and potty trained and decent on leash. She actively seeks out her crate when she is tired and wants a break from play time. While Pixie may not be the type of Dane you can easily take to events, breweries, or dog parks, she's content being a homebody girl. New people make her nervous, so she's happiest in familiar surroundings with her trusted family by her side. Pixie is ready to find a family who will cherish her unique personality and provide the guidance she needs to thrive. She needs a person/family with lots of patience and understanding, willing to continue her training and trust, so she'll blossom into a loyal companion who adores cuddle sessions on the couch and zooming around the yard with her four-legged pals. If you're a Dane-savvy adopter who's ready to welcome a beautiful girl into your heart and home, Pixie could be the perfect match for you. Pixie is spayed, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $350. To read over NWFLGDR's adoption requirements before applying, go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt. Please note: NWFLGDR does not transport. All approved adopters are required to pick up the dane in person from his/her foster parents.
