***The Ark of Hope Rescue does not have an adoption fee but we do ask that you consider what The Ark of Hope Rescue does for all the animals that arrive here and make a monetary donation to the rescue. All the animals that come to the rescue have been abused, abandoned or neglected. Most come with large vet bills, the only means that we have to pay our bills, food, treats, bedding, toys...supplies are by your financial donations! Also this rescue is staffed CONPLETELY by volunteers, NO paid salaries here!
***After you read Phoebe's biography below, if you are interested in visiting her or any other dog here at The Ark go to: www.arkofhoperescue.org under the filmstrip of pictures you will see "The Adoption Procedure" click on that, scroll down to the bottom and click on “Dog Adoption Application.” Fill it out and attach it to an email (

***Why is this beautiful girl here?
"Phoebe" was found at the boarder in Texas and was taken to a kill-shelter but she was very pregnant the shelter did not want to euthanized her and her unborn puppies. She was flown to Western Maryland to someone who found out that they were not able to take care of her. In flight, on the way from Texas to Maryland she delivered her puppies. All the puppies have been adopted and it was time for Phoebe to be spayed. As she was recuperating from surgery she began to limp. She was taken to the vets thinking she may have Lyme Disease. Nope! Instead she was heartworm positive! Sooo, we started her on the long, painful and expensive treatment plan to rid her of those nasty parasites. Now, finally, 10 months later Phoebe is heartworm NEGITIVE, healthy and is ready to be adopted!!! We are searching for only the best family for Phoebe. A home with children are fine, she loves people, she is good with other dogs, female dogs are "if-fie" she was attacked by a female dog and since we're not sure how she would be with another female. Male dogs she seams ok with BUT NOT CATS AT ALL! We know when we find Phoebe's perfect family, she will be the perfect addition to their family! A fenced yard would be delightful for Phoebe. She just turned 3 years old, please don't let her grow up in a rescue, she needs a home and a family to love!
If you may be that person or that family please follow the directions above in the second paragraph and let's schedule a meet and greet date! If you email the adoption application call 301-478-3300 and ask for Dianne.
If you email the adoption application, put the Phoebe's name in the subject line!
