My Story

Adoption Pending!

Phoebe - Lab/Boxer - female (spayed) - white with brown spots - short coat - 60 pounds-10 months of age

Phoebe is just on the cusp of puppyhood into adulthood. She is energetic and can play tirelessly, but is also very glad to collapse onto the couch for belly rubs. She is a very sporty dog, and would accompany her human(s) zestfully on any hiking or outdoor activity. To Phoebe, who regards the world through joy-filled eyes, a leaf dancing in the wind is a great adventure, and an invitation to bound through her yard with abandon.

Phoebe is a dog who takes her purpose and role in the household quite seriously. She loves children, other dogs, and cats, all of whom she regards as playmates. She is very motherly towards small kittens, whom she cleans and nuzzles with gentle concentration. She is alert and responsive, and while she is outgoing and sociable in all situations, she is keenly aware of who is coming into her home, and wishes to share this information with her humans.

In fact, though Phoebe is young, and distracted by playful impulses, she is at her heart a dog who will bond very deeply and devotedly, and will make every effort to please her human(s). She is extremely attentive, and her interest and concern for her foster family is earnest and very touching.

Phoebe is fluent in basic commands like "come", "sit" and "down", and, while of course she is excitable in a manner that is age appropriate, she has excellent house manners. Although she has been known to purloin and chew items of interest when she has been left alone for long periods of time, this chewing behavior has been limited to soft articles and textiles, and is expected to disappear once she has matured.

Phoebe, for all her athleticism, has respect for a fence, as well as the baby gates used in her foster home, and is not a jumper.

Extremely beautiful, Phoebe has excellent and direct eye contact. She is extremely affectionate and demonstrative. In fact, Phoebe is a wonderful combination of vitality and vulnerability, and she will be a loyal and loving addition to the family who adopts her.
