My Story

Age: Approximately 2 years Weight: 7.2 pounds Location: Richmond Hill, ON Adoption Donation: $675 Phoebe is a mystery girl. We don’t know her background because she was found as a stray and transferred to CCRT by a shelter when, sadly, no one claimed her. What we do know is that this super-sweet Chihuahua mix will melt your heart when she climbs into your arms and looks at you with her lovely little blue eyes. She is sure to fill your home with joy and laughter. If you’re looking for an adorable lap-dog that loves to cuddle, even with strangers, Phoebe’s your girl. She has a dual personality, though. Indoors she’s a laid-back love-bug who enjoys her long naps. Outdoors she can be a silly jackrabbit that will entertain you with zoomies in the backyard. Going out for walks on leash is not her thing; she’s a homebody who prefers to do her workouts in the grass at home, so she wants a forever home with a safely fenced backyard where she can play and explore. The outside world can be scary for a dog like Phoebe. Phoebe has a nose that works overtime when she’s outside. When she’s with her humans, she loves to get their attention by poking their ankles with her cold nose so they will pick her up. Otherwise, she’s a low-maintenance girl who makes no demands. She doesn’t even bark! This gentle, submissive young girl needs a loving forever home with a laid-back environment where her human is a homebody and not gone all day at work. Her adopter must have the time, patience and ability, through positive reinforcement, to help build Phoebe’s confidence, continue her house-training and adapt to her idiosyncrasies. Any children living in the forever home must be dog-savvy and at least 10 years of age. In foster care, Phoebe plays with the two other young chis. She would benefit from having another low-to-medium-energy small dog in her forever home to play with and mentor her. She is immediately friendly and trusting with other dogs, but she is easily intimidated by dominant dogs. No cats, please. Phoebe has been diagnosed with microphthalmia, and she does have vision. She has had a wellness exam and a heartworm test (negative). She is microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and she is spayed. If you are interested in adopting Phoebe and you fit all of this description of her ideal forever home, please fill out an adoption application. You can also purchase a sweater and/or blanket for her or any of our foster dogs. Please consider becoming a CCRT Sponsorship Angel for any of our foster dogs by making a cash donation towards their care.
