My Story
Perogy came to us a small, wirey, and feisty pup from Chilliwack Animal Control. In foster care he proved himself to be smart as a whip, and also started to grow at a rapid pace (the breed guesses went from Pit x Lab to Lab x Great Dane)! Wendy, Chung and their three dogs did a fantastic job training and socializing him, and eventually he found a dedicated couple to continue his training. Here is an update from them:
Logan (aka Perogy) has been living with us for a week now. He has adjusted very well. After the first 2 nights he has slept through the night and is learning his morning routine so well now that he now automatically goes back to his bed/crate after his early morning pee until it is time for his walk.
He gets along fabulously with my Gram's lab and my brother's 6 month old pup. My parents' Border Collie has let him know who is "boss" , but he still likes to grab hold of her tail (his favourite chew "toy" seems to be all tails!).
On Wednesday he went to his first Softball game. It was very exciting for him as there were lots of people and dogs around. Also, this weekend Simon had a Softball Tournament in New West, so both Logan and I went along. He loves car rides (after the initial excitement of the car ride, he settles down and chills until we reach our destination). He definitely had some admirers (both people and dogs - older dogs and puppies). He is getting to know that there is a time to be playful and a time to chill. He met a one-year old at the park that he just loved, well he loved licking the baby's hands anyways. I don't know who enjoyed it more.
In terms of the cats and Logan, it has been a gradual but successful introduction. We did what you suggested by having him in his crate and letting the cats come up to him and check him out. By Wednesday evening Bella (8 yrs) had accepted him, and Frodo (5 yrs) drinks from Logan's water dish and does close walk-bys/nose touches, but is still rather cautious of him.
We will keep in touch.

Squishy, lovable and oh so smart, we love Perogy. Currently living in a foster home that is normally anti-puppy, he has managed to change their minds because he picks up rules and fits in fast! He's a "wait and see" breed mix guess, who will be quite a large-breed dog when full-grown. He is just 4 months old, VERY cute, full or personality and BIG! He already weighs at least 35lbs, and growing rapidly. This pup has already made appearances at 2 festivals and has been a total hit due to his belief that absolutely everybody l-o-v-e-s him.
If Perogy were a human he'd be some 20-something guy wearing a "No Fear" T-shirt- perhaps a stunt double. Perogy is absolutely certain that all humans adore him. He is also not afraid to take on a dog 5 times his size. We'd love to get this pup into a dog-loving home, preferably with a fun female dog. He would like a decently active homes, and we'd like to see a well-fenced yard to boot.
From his foster family:
As you guys know, we "don't do puppies", but it's been just over a week since we have been fostering Perogy and I have to admit that he is a wonderful. He gets along with our 3 dogs and even has a girlfriend next door. He a confident dog that loves to tumble around and have fun like all puppies do. He is also a very quick learner and does great out and about and in the car. We just got back from being at the crowded Dragon Boat Festival and he was charming the pants off of everyone! People were impressed with how easy he was and his great sit - plus he is super cute ! Super easy to walk, but it can take a bit of time as we get stopped so often and he sometimes like to just sit and enjoy the sites sometimes.
He has been great inside the home. We are working on his housetraining and has had only 3 accidents so far - pretty darn good from what I was expecting ! He is also fine with the crate and sleeps through the night. He is an active dog that likes to be kept busy until he has had enough and then he loves to cuddle and nap. He loves his toys, so he usually entertains himself when we are inside but he loves to run around outside.
He is learning our usual house rules- sit and wait before heading out for our walks (he has a great sit!) , waiting at the bottom of the stairs until we release them when we come home from the walk, sitting and waiting for his dinner as well as at the curb. He is learning drop it and definately knows the word "no" :)
As for his "fiestiness", it's only towards other dogs that let him push him around. He enjoys a rough tumble and will try to be dominant but he also knows when to back off.
All in all, he has been surprising treat & so much fun.
Perogy is neutered, tattooed, microchipped, dewormed, deflead, and vaccinated. His adoption is $250 with $50 returned upon proof of completing basic obedience classes.
