To start the adoption process, please fill out our form on our web site at: www.spokanewienerdogs.org and see the Adopt a Dog/Fee page with more details on how we adopt our dogs. There are a lot of questions answered on our web site and personality details below about each dog so please read BEFORE getting in touch. Thanks.
If our dogs listed on Petfinder then they are still available for adoption (unless noted by a "pending") and they will stay listed until we find them the right homes with our adoption paperwork all finished. Thanks.
Please indicate which dog you are interested in on the form. You can also view our adoption contract sample there as well and read about our adoption process like site visits and paperwork needed to adopt.
This breed of hunting dogs is too noisy and active for most apartments so please do not fill in our paperwork if you do not have a secure, fenced yard unless the dog personality details below tells you they are suitable for apartments. Thanks.
We also do not recommend wieners for children under age 7 as Dachshunds will bite to defend themselves if the children are too active or hurt this breed of dogs. Dachshunds are too smart to allow themselves to be abused.
These dogs are hunting dogs, even the tiny ones, which means that most have a very high prey drive so they will hunt your cats, ferrets, birds, etc. and kill or hurt them unless noted below in their details. Mine here are always killing moles and mice all over our farm and they do leave my barn cats alone because I have trained them to do so, but that is against their nature.
And overfeeding a Dachshund is on of the worst things anyone can do with this breed. If you can't resist sad eyes and keep them on a strict diet of one cup of food a day or less for minis 12 pounds and under then this is not the breed for you unless you like vet bills later for bad backs or other obesity issues. These dogs need exercise constantly to stay in hunting shape.
There is an adoption fee of $175 for this dog. No phone calls or emails please. Please see our web site for details.
This handsome guy is Pepper, a standard-sized silver dapple about 22 pounds. He is neutered and up-to-date on his shots.
Well as is typical with standards this guy has brains, is cuddly and happy. The day after we got in Pepper we had a BBQ here for some friends and their dogs. He fit right in and was mooching with all the rest, greeting all the company while scoring some steak. Just a mellow, happy, housebroke, kind dog who is a joy to have around.
He was turned in with his buddy Chip and they could easily go to their new home together again. But these two like each other, but not bonded so they can find a home without each other too. They get along great so nice if someone wants them both. But I will not adopt him into an only dog home as he is used to having a dog buddy in his life.
He was turned in because of his family had issues not because the dogs had any. This is a nice boy.
I am still checking him on cats but as it typical with the breed they are not fond of kitties as a rule.
Please read our To Adopt page on http:/www.spokanewienerdogs.com to fill in our Waiting List Form on this cutie.
