My Story

We at SOS don't get it. Why is this adorable, lively, smart, beautiful and possibly purebred, playful, loving, housebroken, non yappy, non shedding, healthy, cuddly, neutered and up on shots little prancing man going begging? We can't figure out why he wasn't snapped up on day one! He's probably less than the five year age estimate the vet made, based on his stained teeth and now that SOS had them cleaned to a sparkly white, we guess he may be only 3 years. Impossible to say for sure of course for this little stray's origins are a mystery. But he is very high energy and has a puppy's playfulness and in fact would be a fine candidate for agility training. He'll play as long as someone is willing to play with him. He is neither fearful nor aggressive. He seems to think he's a pretty neat little guy and why wouldn't you want to play with him and chase him (his favorite game is "Keep away" with his several beloved stuffed toys) and let him cuddle with you while you watch TV or read. At 15 lbs. he is a big dog in a small package. He might be a Min Pin (Miniature Doberman Pinscher) or a Manchester (Black and Tan) Terrier. Interestingly, Min Pins have no genetic connection to the big Dobermans often used as guard dogs. They just look like them. Google the Min Pin and the Manchester Terrier and you'll find photos that make the two breeds look identical. Pepe could be a mix of course but I suspect he is a pure Min Pin. He adores all the neighborhood children where I live but because he is so small, we think he might be better suited for older children and a household without a large dog in residence. He is the sort of dog who would fit well into a number of different households though he seems unfond of cats. He would do great with an older couple who still enjoyed walking a dog (he adores brisk walks) and playing a few games with one too. He is never destructive when left alone in the house and just loves to look out a window or take a nap. He'll adapt to whatever comes his way. He's very affectionate and adores to sit in my lap or snuggle close, stealing the occasional kiss. Won't you come and meet Pepe and see what a little prize he is?
