My Story

SPONSORED ADOPTION FEE Surrendered for adoption to a local vet, along with Luna who is quite likely a half-sibling or perhaps Penny is Luna's mother. They were from the same home and have been outside dogs with no house training (though they are using the dog door to do bathroom business in their outer kennel). They are both friendly dogs but can be jumpy as they want all of your attention. As they are large dogs, Penny the larger of the pair, they could use some training to curb this habit. Penny seems to be particularly fussy when new dogs come into the shelter and will use her husky voice to tell everyone all about it. She has been not good with other dogs that she's interacted with at the shelter, so she is obviously a dog that would need proper introductions to any potential house mate and a trial period to be sure they get along or be an only dog - or better yet we find her a home together with just Luna. Penny is quite attached to Luna and if at all possible we would love for them to be adopted as a pair but we will separate them if it means we can get them adopted sooner. They are best suited to an outdoor lifestyle as this is what they are used to and have not been house trained. If you've got space, no cats accessible to them and love a gorgeous husky dog these two would love to meet you! They were both spayed at intake mid-April are vaccinated. We had a sponsored dog adoption and the family that adopted the sponsored dog decided to 'pay it forward' and sponsor the adoption of another dog! SO that means we can offer this pair for free (instead of the usual $600 for 2 dogs); you can adopt them together for nothing (after an approved applicaiton is submitted)! They are best suited to an outdoor lifestyle as this is what they are used to and have not been house trained (though could likely be trained to be so). If you've got space and love a gorgeous husky dog these two would love to meet you! Aug 2/24 Luna and Penny went for a leashed walk at St Cyr! They were typical huskies in the beginning - high energy and high drama. Really excited for some attention! Too good for the trunk, they crawled over into the backseat and with some coaxing, stayed in the back area. They did really well on the walk! These girls have lots of potential! Regular adoption fee for dogs is $300; if the dog is too young for spay/neuter prior to adoption then a $300 post dated spay/neuter deposit cheque (OR PAD form) is also required - we don't cash this cheque but hold it until cheque date and proof of S/N surgery provided by the date on the cheque - typically when the pup is 6 months of age. Occasionally we adopt out particular animals at fundraising prices to help offset our vet bills, each fundraiser dog will be posted as such with the adoption fee noted. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter and rabies ONLY if surgery is done with our Meadow Lake vet; otherwise adopters are responsible to pay those fees at their own vets.
