My Story

Dog Name: Penny Approximate Age: 1 year Gender: female Dog friendly: yes- slow intros Cat friendly: yes Child friendly: very House trained: yes Crate trained: yes Fence needed : yes, she has a strong prey drive and loves to chase squirrels and birds Energy level: moderate Temperament: very sweet Foster location: Sioux Falls Adoption Fee: $350 About me: Penny loves her people and her bigger, older foster dog. She is often their shadow. Penny would make a great running partner. She's a petite gal at 29 lbs, but has lots of energy when she’s out and about! Then she loves to relax when she’s inside. She is a real cuddler and just enjoys being close to her people. She would love a busy family looking for a small/medium dog. Her coat is beautiful and doesn’t really shed much but also won’t need constant haircuts either. Penny needs a slow introduction to new dogs. She can be reactive the first time they meet, especially if they bark or come on quite strong, but once she learns she can trust them, she fits right in. She has made great progress with her training! A home with another dog will need to be the right fit, or she would do well as an only dog too! She knows the commands sit, touch, leave it, and is working on stay and kennel up. Penny also gets along with the resident cats. She wants to play with them, but if you have a cat that doesn’t want to play and lets her know that, she usually gets the hint pretty quickly! Penny can't wait to meet her forever family! *AHCR cannot guarantee any breed/possible breed of the dogs in our care or the size they will be full grown. All of our animals are fixed, microchipped, started on age appropriate vaccines, dewormed, and on a flea/tick and heart worm preventative prior to adoption. Please note that all of our animals are in foster homes, and you must have an approved application to meet any of them unless at a scheduled meet and greet event. Please check your city ordinances to ensure you will not exceed the animal limit. To apply to adopt, go to: https://almosthomecaninerescue.com/application/
