She originally came into Precious Paws Rescue as a stray from Moosonee and spent several months thriving in foster care in 2023 before being adopted. Unfortunately, Penny was recently returned to our care, but she's ready to find her happy ending with a family that's committed to her needs! Penny is a sweetheart who adores people of all ages. She's incredibly affectionate, smart, and well-trained. Penny knows a variety of tricks and is housetrained and crate trained. She even enjoys interacting with all the staff at the veterinary clinic! Penny reacts strongly towards other animals, particularly on-leash, where she will bark and lunge when she sees other dogs. When off-leash, she handles dog interactions better and with the right match, proper introductions and patience, she may adjust to sharing her space with another dog. She needs a committed family willing to continue her training with a certified professional to help her be the best dog she can be. Penny is currently on a weight loss program and takes daily anti-anxiety medication to help her stay focused in situations where she may become reactive. Penny would thrive in a home with a family that understands her needs and is dedicated to her continued training and care. She needs a patient environment where she can feel safe and loved.
