Pearl is a very human loving 9 pounds, 5-6 year old chihuahua mix. She LOVES adults and older kids (not a fan of living with young children) and is great at going to work with her foster family.
Pearl's awesome traits:
-Every single person who has met Pearl wants to adopt her (she makes every person feel so loved and special)
-She has great house manners
-She LOVES to snuggle- and makes a great hot water bottle (she also loves to sleep in bed with her humans)
-She loves to play with toys
-she is very social and LOVES people
-She loves sun-tanning
-she is really good about having nails trimmed
-she LOVES going for walks- especially in the forest
-she is really smart, loves treats and eager to please and learns fast. She knows sit, lie down, dance, twirl, shake a paw and speak!
-she really likes car rides and is getting less whiny during them (wasn't used to car rides prior to foster care)
Pearl's particular needs
-Pearl fancies herself a princess and gets surly with other dogs- especially large breed dogs. She would be happiest as the only dog or with other small breed dogs (especially a boy dog).
-On-leash she can be dog reactive and her foster family is working on her ignoring (she is not a dog park or off-leash potential dog).
-When Pearl is first in a home she has some anxiety about being left alone. Now that she has settled in she is no longer barking when left alone, but this takes some time.
-She does not like her feet towelled off when coming in the door, so would need to slowing get used to by pairing with treats or being in a home that is ok with not towelling her feet
-Pearl needed 23 teeth removed when she came to use. She still has a number of teeth and will likely need yearly dental cleanings/maintenance as she'd not prone to the strongest of teeth genetics!
-Pearl loves cars rides and can also make a lot of chihuahua whiny noises when excited in the car. Post walk/exercise she settles down much better in the car.
Pearl's adoption fee is $450 in order to cover the costs of vetting. She has had a major dental complete, been spayed, tattooed, microchipped and received his DA2PP vaccine since coming in to care.
If interested in Pearl please email [email protected] for an adoption application. As our dogs are in foster care the first step is the application in order to feel out match. We are not a first come, first to adopt organization and try to match dogs and people in good ways.
