My Story

Otis has it all - looks, charm, smarts, youth and a love for life and everything about it! What more could anyone ask for in their new family member? Otis has learned so much about life since coming to rescue, such as walking on a leash, jumping into the car to go for rides, sitting for a treat, laying down with a little coaxing, and… how amazing people are! This boy was adopted from a shelter and then returned for “chasing the geese.” Otis loves to go for walks and then come in and chill out, relaxing in the crate with the door open. He simply loves to roll around and play with the other dogs and run, and run, and run. Otis takes full advantage of the excavating the other dogs do by laying and rolling in their holes—oh what fun! Grooming – he is pyrfect and always willing to stand or lay down for brushing, nail trims, ear cleaning, the works! Otis finds cats to be interesting but listens if he gets a swat for getting too close, so dog-loving cats would be perfect for Otis! People attention – Otis says “Oh yeah - people are the best and I will be sure to greet them all with a tail wag!” He simply adores it when he gets to rest his head in a lap, ensuring the best position for plenty of ear rubs! The ideal home for Otis will have a big, fenced yard, and another dog to run and chase him around in a game of tag or just roll around with. This smart boy would love a family to take him exploring the neighborhood or a hike thru some trails. This handsome boy will bring great joy to his new family, and he will shine from all the love and attention he so deserves! NYS Registered Rescue # RR102 NGPR dogs are in foster homes at the location specified on their full listing. View the full listing (with location, fee and application link) at HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTABLE-DOGS Completion of an application is required to be considered for any dog. Please fill out the application on our website and we will contact you. HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTION-APPLICATION/ Due to the high level of interest we can't respond to emails unless an application has been submitted. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
