My Story

Meet Oscar - The Belly-Up Beggar with a Heart of Gold Are you ready to welcome a furry friend into your home? Look no further than Oscar, a handsome seven-year-old Doberman with a heart as big as his impressive stature. Rescued by Dogwood Doberman Rescue, Oscar has come a long way since his days of extreme malnourishment. He has already gained 15 pounds, showcasing his resilience and the dedication of the rescue team. About Oscar: - Breed: Doberman Pinscher - Age: 7 years - Color: Black and tan - Tail: Docked - Ears: Cropped Personality: Oscar is not just your average pup – he's a true sweetheart with a penchant for love. This lovable Doberman will steal your heart by begging for pets, often ending up belly-up to maximize the petting potential. His eyes light up with joy, and his affectionate nature is irresistible. Work in Progress: While Oscar has made tremendous strides, he is currently working on redirecting his energy away from light chasing, a behavior associated with his mild OCD tendencies. With your guidance and patience, Oscar is making positive strides in focusing on more enjoyable activities. Additionally, he could benefit from some leash manners training to eliminate pulling during walks. Oscar's willingness to learn and please his owner makes him an ideal candidate for further training. Potty and Crate Trained: Oscar is not only a clever companion but also a well-mannered one. He is fully potty trained, eliminating any concerns about accidents in the house. Additionally, Oscar is crate trained, providing a safe and secure space for him when needed. Social Compatibility: Oscar is a social butterfly who gets along well with dogs of all sizes. Whether it's playtime in the yard or a relaxing afternoon nap, Oscar is adaptable and enjoys the company of his furry friends. However, he has not been tested with cats yet. Ideal Home: Oscar would thrive in a home with a loving family that can provide him with the attention and care he deserves. An owner who enjoys engaging in training activities and spending quality time with their furry companion would be a perfect match for Oscar. Due to his current challenges, a patient and understanding family willing to continue his training would be ideal.
