Oreo

Oreo was found as a stray roaming the busy streets of upper Alton, IL. Imagine our surprise when we discovered he is a former FAHR alumni. Oreo was adopted from us in 2015. His adopters are now deceased and instead of coming back to us per his adoption contract, he was improperly rehomed. Oreo has been posted several times in the lost and found groups. The home he has been staying does not have a fenced yard, so we can only assume he was allowed to free roam. He is extremely overweight causing health concerns, and does not appear to have been taken well care of. The family we adopted him to absolutely adored him, took very good care of him and would be devastated to know he has been on the streets. Oreo is a schnauzer, approximately 9-10 years old. Not only is he adorable, he is also very sweet and well behaved. He does well with dogs and seems ok with cats. He is also house and create trained. Now that we know Oreo is a wanderer, we prefer a secure fenced yard or a committed leash walker. Oreo currently weighs 34lbs but should be closer to 20-25lbs. He is on a strict diet and has already lost a few pounds since being in our care. He needs a family that will continue with his diet so he can get back to a healthy weight. Other potential health concerns will be discussed during phone screenings. We are thankful Oreo has made his way back to us so we can find him a new forever family that will love and protect him.
