Orbit

*Orbit is being spayed Thursday, August 1st and will not be available for visits that day. She should be back at the shelter and ready to go home starting Friday, August 2nd* Meet Orbit! This beautiful girl arrived at HSoP as a stray and was unfortunately never claimed by an owner. Now she's on the hunt for her new forever home. We estimate Orbit to be around 6 years old. She has been incredibly friendly and easy-going since arriving in our care. If there was ever a dog deserving of the nickname "Gentle Giant", we would vote that Orbit is that dog. She is incredibly soft-mouthed, easy going, and aware of her size. She likes to take her treats gently without even being asked. Since she arrived as stray, there's a lot we don't know about Orbit's history. We don't know how she does around children or other pets, but we do offer a seven-day foster period with each adoption to help ensure a good fit. We also require all dogs to meet any canines in the home prior to adoption. Being a German Shepherd mix, Orbit is prone to boredom when kept in the same space for too long. She likes to "throw parties" in her kennel, which is a nice way of saying that she flips things over and likes to move everything around. Her bed always starts the day facing up, but is face-down by lunch time thanks to Orbit's knack for redecorating. All of this to say, she needs an owner who understands the mental stimulation she requires each day. This could come from puzzle toys, exciting enrichment games, a working job, and so much more. Orbit would not be happy being cooped up inside a home; she needs to be engaged mentally and physically each day to truly thrive (like most German Shepherds).
