My Story

Opie is 2 years old in these pictures taken June 20, 2009.  His owner gave him and his brother, Cory, up because she doesn't have time for them now.  This is what she says about Opie: Opie is a registered Brittany Spaniel (LP has the papers) and we got him about a year ago.  Opie is very shy when he first meets people.  It took us a few weeks before he felt comfortable with the family.  We just kept giving him attention and taking him for walks and he settled in.  Opie loves to play fetch and is so cute when he plays, as he jumps and twists when he chases the ball.  Playing fetch makes him extremely happy.  Opie needs a special family or individual who is willing to work with him and give him time to learn to trust them.

The volunteers at LP have found Opie to be shy, yes, but he soon warms up to you and loves to go for walks. He is a warm and gentle little guy who just wants to be loved. Opie does play with other dogs and doesn't have any food aggression.  A quiet little guy too. He ignored the cat he was introduced to.  The former owner said that he used to let cats sleep with him outside. He doesn't mind riding in the car either.  Opie would be best in a home where there isn't a lot of activity.  Too much going on seems to scare the poor boy.  A couple or a family with older children would be perfect.

Opie tested negative for Heartworm/Lyme/Ehrlichiosis and has been on HW preventative.  He weighed 32.8 pounds when he went to the vet on 6/17/09.
