My Story

The last of the 4 Vernon pups was adopted last weekend!!! Through-out elementary school Onyx/Pal's foster mom Caitlin, and the daughter of his newly adopted family, were best-friends. They live in the same neighbourhood, but have not run into each other in 3 years. Well Caitlin was out walking Onyx, and BB alumni Akela, when they ran into each other. It turns out the Tham's had finally decided that they were ready to add a dog to their crew. Exactly one week later Onyx, now everybody's Pal, headed home, much to the excitement of everyone, but especially Kai, the Dad of the family. Kai had been waiting patiently for a dog for years. In the meantime he was well-known as the treat man to all the neighbourhood dogs. Here is an update from his new family:
Attached is a picture of Onyx and I in our yard this afternoon. I am forwarding the formal announcement my daughter sent out to her Aunt, Uncles and cousins. My nephews and nieces decided that Diesel was already taken and that Pal was the name they wanted. I am known as Uncle Pal to all of them because when they were youngsters I always called them Pal. So Pal now has a pal. We went shopping this afternoon for all his gear. We now have a crate in the foyer and my wife still can't get over the size of it. With one fell swoop this afternoon after the vets visit, my whole life changed. Thanks again for all your help. If you are ever in Richmond drop in to for a coffee / tea or whatever and visit us.

is doing very well, he is a total sweetheart. He loves to hang out outside with akela. His favorite thing to do is curl up in my lap and sleep. I think he would make a perfect companion for a single person or couple. He loves people and is super sweet to everyone he meets. He is very good in the car and is crate trained. He is highly food motivated and has sit nailed. I am working on lay down and shake a paw. Onyx is a very smart dog and learns quick.
Onyyx can be feisty with other dogs, and is therefore best-suited as an only dog, or with a large breed female who will keep him in line! He will need continued socialization and training in the dog-dog department. He already has teh human loving dpartment aced!

Onyx is now foster care in the Lower Mainland at Zen Dogs daycare! He is a chunky muffin, and a total lap hog! He is the best cuddler and an over-all sweetheart. He would do best in a Pit Bull experienced home as he can be feisty with other dogs. Also typical to the breed he loves to wiggle, kiss, and kiss some more!

Onyx is my little sausage LOL. He is so stalky and pudgy. He looks at you with his puppy eyes all the time like arent I just the cutest !! He loves to run around the house chasing his siblings and playing with them. He also has mastered sit and we are continuing to work on it as well as lie down. He loves to be cuddled in your arms and always wants to be a part of what is going on. Whether you are watching tv or cooking dinner he is right there with you. He is 20lbs and the biggest of the bunch and will be nuetered on the 29th. After his recovery he will be ready for his forever home. All pups are crate trained and know to use their pee pads for potty when they are unable to go outside.

Onyx....Black Male Onyx is definetly the trouble maker of the bunch. He loves to play and wrestle with all the pups. He is very energetic but sleeps like a little bear.

Onyx, Freddy (the two boys, Sirca, and Baby (the two girls) are currently in foster care in Vernon. They are 5 weeks old, and will be looking for homes once they reach 8 weeks. In the meantime they are taking applications from their new hopeful people.

Momma is a Pit Bull, and Dad is unknown (but from the looks of them likely a mutt or two!). They are in foster care as they are too young to be in a shelter. They are living with some great poeple that are socializing with dogs, cats, and lots of humans.

They will need homes where someone is home more often than not. They will chew, bark, whine, pee, eat, and repeat for a good while to come. they need to attend puppy and basic obedience classes to ensure they grow up to be well-socialized adult with nice manners.
