Meet OLLIE - Your Gentle Giant! Ollie is a loving 65-pound neutered Cane Corso about 3.5 years old. . Ollie's story is both heartwarming and a little bittersweet. He was on the euthanasia list at a high-kill shelter in Fort Worth, Texas. It was no fault of his own, the shelter simply had no space. Initially, we went to the shelter to rescue another dog, but when that dog had already found a home, the shelter staff pleaded for Ollie. They feared his breed and color would make his chances of adoption slim, despite his sweet nature. Now in foster care, Ollie has shown just how wonderful he truly is. He’s fully house trained and crate trained, and he's neither destructive inside nor outside the home. Ollie is a quiet dog, only barking when he really needs something or wants your attention. He’s an excellent passenger in the car and comfortably sleeps in his crate at night, though he would love nothing more than to cuddle up with his person. Ollie is up to date on all his vaccinations, including rabies, and is heartworm negative. He’s kept on monthly heartworm, flea, and tick prevention. Ollie knows basic commands and walks well on a leash, though he does best with a harness to prevent pulling when he gets excited. A fenced yard is essential for his safety, as he isn't trained to be off-leash. Despite his imposing size and color, Ollie is a sweetheart with a gentle soul. He gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes, both male and female, and he’s even okay with some cats, depending on their temperament. Ollie would thrive in a home with school-age children, a couple, or a single person who will make him a beloved family member. He's not suited for long hikes or running due to his build and brachycephalic (smushed face) nature, and he needs to come indoors when it’s too hot or cold. Ollie adores belly rubs and playing in the water, making him the perfect companion for leisurely walks and lots of snuggles.
