My Story

This is Ollie!

Ollie adores his people like a shepherd, is handsome like a rottweiler and lives by the Labrador retriever motto, "every stranger is a new friend!"

Ollie is happy, friendly, loving and the most affectionate dog we’ve known. He has awesome golden eyes that say, "I love you, please love me!" He bonds quickly and will follow you around waiting for an opportunity to snuggle. He's a true shepherd - loyal and adores his people. He is very gentle-natured, but gets really excited when you come home from work and when it is time for a walk - he bounces straight up in the air. He is about 5 years old. He likes to play and romp, but it doesn’t take him too long before he would welcome naptime. Given the choice, he’d probably prefer cuddling to playing, but like all dogs, he needs both.

Ollie has good house manners and is housebroken. Ollie rarely barks - only when he really wants your attention or once or twice when he hears something close to the house. Ollie knows the basic commands, sit, stay, shake, down, come. Ollie is crate trained, but could also be trusted loose in the house - he isn't a destructive puppy. His person is what is most important to him so he would be fine as an only dog but he would also enjoy being a brother. Ollie has been to the dog park with his foster family and does well and has a lot of fun! The video is of Ollie at the dog park. He comes up to all the people and solicits pets. He's gentle around the children. He romps with his new doggie friends. Ollie has also been to daycare - he passed the test with flying colors and likes to meet new friends and charm the daycare staff.

Ollie has the coloring of a German Shepherd, but his fur is much softer. It is as soft, silky and fluffy as can be. He has the endearing flopped over ears of the Labrador. He's a pretty thick guy, so maybe he's shepherd/rottweiler or shepherd/lab. He doesn't seem to be very protective, though. He's happy to have strangers in the house - they're new freinds.

Ollie weighs about 100 pounds, but should be about 90 pounds. You should be able to see a waist when you look down over your dog. You shouldn't be able to see his ribs, but you should be able to feel them very easily.

Ollie is just a big, soft, cuddly teddy bear. Are you the person or family to give him the lovin' he craves?

We think Ollie would be too interested in chasing cats. He should not go to a home with cats.

Adoption Process: We are not first come first served. Indigo Rescue focuses on finding good matches between dogs and families to ensure life long adoptions. We deliver all dogs to their new homes.

All of our dogs are in foster homes. We have adoption events at the Beaverton PetSmart every other Saturday where you can meet many of our dogs at once. Click Here for our Calendar of Events. Or, if you're interested in a particular dog, you can send an e-mail via the e-mail link at the bottom of the page ("Email adoption organization") with answers to the questions below. If the dog seems compatible with your situation we'll set up a time for you to meet the dog.

Do you have other pets now? (briefly describe)

Have you had pets in the past? What became of them?

What kind of exercise will you provide for the dog? (type/frequency)

What is your schedule like? How long/often will the dog be alone?

Where will the dog be while you're gone? Where will the dog be when you're home? Where will the dog sleep?

Who else lives in the home? Do you have children? How old are the children?

Are you in a home or apartment? How long have you lived there? Do you have a fully, securely fenced yard? (type/height)

Do you own or rent your home?

What changes in your life are likely in the next 10+ years (or life span of the dog) and how will the changes affect the dog? (moving, job or schedule change, school, having children)

Anything else you'd like us to consider in finding the right dog for your family?

Thank you for your interest in adopting and saving a life!

Indigo Rescue only adopts to homes within 50 miles of Portland.
