My Story

Olivia is approximately 2 years old in these pictures taken November 14, 2009. She is a beautiful girl inside and out. LOVES people of all ages and plays great with all of the other dogs she has come in contact with. Olivia walks well on a leash; loads into a crate in the car when told; and has no food aggressions. She was a little too interested in the cat we introduced her to so we do not recommend leaving her with a cat until she learns that she needs to stay away from them. Olivia isn't much of a barker like most hounds. Oh she does bark and whine when she hears people out front and she isn't getting attention. She sooooooooooo loves being with people.

When she is sitting with you, she puts her paws up on your lap and her head on your shoulder or chest. We are certain that she will be a great couch snuggler dog. When we sit with her on the ground, she puts her head in your lap or wants to sit on it. She just wants to be as close as she can get to people. Olivia is a real love bug for sure.

We have had only one problem with Olivia. That is that she can climb / jump a chain link fence of any size. So we moved her to our one and only area of the shelter where she can't get out. Sadly this means she isn't out in the public area.

Olivia was brought into LP by a lady who saw her and her pup along side a rural highway in Missouri. The lady watched as the puppy was hit by a car. The car that hit the pup did not stop. The lady did stop and she said that Olivia was so happy to see her that she just jumped into the car as if to say Thank you...Thank you.

The lady looked for the pup, who had went running off into the woods, but never found her. Olivia was taken to the City Kill Shelter. When Olivia's time was up the lady contacted us to take her or she was going to be put down.

Olivia lost the puppies she was carrying and was spayed, given her rabies, micro chipped, and tested for Heartworm/Lyme/Ehrlichia on October 22, 2009. She is on Heartworm preventative. Olivia weighed 64.20 pounds.
