My Story

Hello, my name is Oliver, I am a year old purebred black lab, I am microchipped, take Interceptor heartworm prevention medicine and my mom puts that Frontline flea stuff on me just to make sure I don't get any bugs. Have you seen the movie Marley and Me? Well that is somewhat what I am like, but I am black. I love to play ball and carry my toys around. I would really like to have a big fenced in yard because I have lots and lots of energy. Family is important, so if there is a stay at home mom I'd like that, kids, yeah as long as they aren't too small, I bump into them sometimes and they spin like a top, a man to pal around with even better. I have been in a cage while my mom works and when she comes home...boy oh boy, I get so excited that I could bounce off the walls. I am a big boy, I weigh 80 pounds but I think that is because my time in the yard was limited. I like people and other dogs, I am a submissive boy and I love belly rubs. I walk good on a leash with my new harness my mom bought, I didn't like the collars. I lived with a cat, she was kind of a snit, she would run from me, so I chased her, I thought it was fun, but I would really like it if you have a cat, it wouldn't be afraid to sniff me. I played with other dogs, I was the biggest one but they gave me a run for my money. My neighbor dogs would always run and bark at me, but I just stood there and watched them, they were loud and funny to see. I am very intelligent, I know the word BALL and I know when I am told to go get my DUCK that I am to bring him in from the yard. My mom made me clean up my toys every time I took them out... go get your duck, go get your duck, that's all I heard, boy oh boy... and I will be in your face if I am bored, I stare at you until you play with me and if you are a couch potato then we won't work out, I want to play play play... So throw in a family who wants to play and walk with me, then I will be a really happy boy... I need some work on my manners and some training... I will sit, and my mom taught me to give her my paw, and she would give me a treat, like I said I am smart, so the ole paw was swinging in the breeze all the time if there was a chance that I would get something for it.. I am spoiled and I like it. Toys and cookies is my game, Oliver is my name. I need lots of chew toys as I like to chew when bored although I never really got into too much trouble in that area, my mom kept an eye on me, but I did shred paper towels from the bathroom trash can, I don't know if I would get into the real trash because she had a wooden bin. Oh yeah don't leave food on the counter, my mom didn't know this and when she walked away, I became a little piggish and took her chicken wings, got as many as I could, then I got caught. They were bony and spicy hot hot hot, didn't settle too well, but lucky for me there were not problems. When I sleep I snore, and do you know where the best place to sleep is?? Let me tell you it is the couch, so if you don't want me on the couch you will have to reinforce it with me as I really like comfy and it is hard for me to give it up. So there you have it, the good, the bad and the ugly, I want a forever home, I am not here because I did something wrong, even with sleeping on the couch and the paper towel thing, my mom still loved me. My first dad died, now my new mom hurt her knee and her yard is small and since I spend so much time in my cage, she feels it is it is unfair to me and she wants me to be happy. I am a good boy and I love people, with lots of love and walks and if you give me a chance, you will see that if you take me home, we could be really happy. So think it over, and lets talk. Hugs and kisses Oliver
