My Story

Update from his foster mom 3/4/08: "Ollie is very cuddly now, he wants to constantly be cuddling, touching, lying next to you or to be petted. But he is not needy.

Ollie likes to sleep in the bed and on the sofa now, and does not like to be yelled at. He does do well off the leash, I can now walk him up and down my street without a leash and he stays next to me. If he gets to ahead, I call him and he sits down and waits. He is really good.. I think he is just scared to leave my side. He does not tug either, he pretty much stays next to me on his leash. What a good boy :)

I haven't tested him yet with any other dog, he did well with my parents dog very, very old dog . He definitely needs to be monitored around cats and other small animals.

I think the best house would be a family with older kids, single woman, or couple. Some kids came up to him and petted him and he went right to them and wagged his tail. He is a bit timid at first when strangers approach him quickly, but then sits and lets them pet him. He did well in Petco too. He does like woman, and seems to go to them more immediate.

I honestly think he would do fine in any home that will let him play and let him sit on furniture ( that would be my fault ). He does not beg for people food, nor does he climb tables etc. Doesn't go through trash, I left the trash out and nothing. But he will get mad if you leave him home and he gets bored and he will eat random things.. "

Update 1/24: Oliver is doing SO MUCH better! As you can see by his new pictures, his wounds are healing beautifully and he is feeling a million times better.. Now we just need a a fabulous home for him! To see some pretty magnificent before and after pictures, please click on his montage below to see a slideshow of what he looked like when he first come to us!

Oliver and Trinity

Oliver came to us through the high kill shelter that we rescue from outside of Memphis. The Animal Control Officers called us and said that they had a dog that had clearly been used as a "bait dog." A woman had called them and said that there was a dog who had run away from her neighbor's house. She could tell that he was in awful shape and she refused to give him back when the neighbor came over demanding that she give him back. Her bravery and compassion saved Oliver's life. Shortly thereafter, Animal Control showed up and brought Oliver to the pound. There was not one inch of his body that was not scarred. They begged us to pull him so that his life would not have to end in euthanisia at the pound.

Oliver is currently at our vet clinic and doing as well as can be expected. Luckily, none of his injuries are life-threatening and he is receiving extensive wound care and will need to be treated for heartworm. The vet techs and vets are shocked- Oliver is the most gentle, sweet boy who enjoys nothing more than a loving touch. They have been able to observe his spirit slowly coming back- he is starting to realize that no one is going to hurt him anymore.

It will be a long road to recovery, but if you would like to adopt Oliver and give him the life of a king, please email us. He deserves nothing but the most wonderful family. If you can not adopt him, but wish to donate to his extensive vet bills, please read below to learn how you can donate. He ic currently being treated for heartworm and will be ready to go to his new family in the beginning of January. Please let this be the best New Year's of Oliver's life..
