My Story

Please read our adoption policies BEFORE inquiring to adopt a pet. If you wish to meet a pet shown here, please submit a letter of introduction via email to [email protected] describing the home you can provide. Please include such things as if you own or rent and what type of fencing you have. If no fencing include acreage. Also describe other pets and children in the home . UPDATE: Oliver is thriving in his foster home. He's the last pup of the litter of 5 we Rescued back in December. He is the biggest. He is now crate trained, housebroken and working on his leash skills. He adores his "big brother" in the home and has made several other dog friends. He would do best in a home as a second dog, as he seems to need the reassurance of an adult dog to follow and learn from. He is a good boy, who doesn't test boundaries and try's hard to please. He's not an over affectionate dog, but rather a loner, as is normal for this breed. He enjoys human company but much prefers a dog friend. DNA results posted for his litter mate, showing 100% Catahoula. UPDATE: Both the Harlequin colored pups have found homes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Bred to hunt boar (wild hogs) Catahoula are fearless, independent, quick thinkers, they are strong (physically and willed) protective and loyal one person dogs. They do not make the best choice for a Family dog. These dogs require early socializing, firm but fair training and a job. They make excellent Ranch help, "in the woods" buddies and running companions. This is not a breed for inexperienced dog handlers and requires a solid fenced yard or large acreage. No apartments o small city yards u less you are an avid runner and outdoorsman. Their courage and independence often renders them "stubborn", so they need a fairly patient and determined owner too! But once you've had a relationship with a Catahoula you may be ruined for all others dogs. They are fiercely loyal, protective and your absolute best friend. Old Yeller, from the childhood story and movie, was a Catahoula. They come in a variety of colors and range in size from 50-90#s.
