Here is what the shelter staff and volunteers have to say about this handsome boy:
Handsome and noble Okie arrived at the Surrey SPCA shelter as a stray and was then transferred to the Burnaby SPCA where he is waiting to meet you right now!
Volunteer Notes: Okie is a very popular dog with the volunteer walkers. He walks very well on-leash and thoroughly enjoys his walks. No dog gets more excited to be collared and leashed up for a walk. This normally very noble, dignified, self-controlled dog, turns into a happy, bouncy pup! He's a friendly fellow who forms strong bonds with his favourite people. Although he's not too keen on other male dogs, he is fine sharing his walk with calm females, who respect his space.
Personality; Staff Assessment: Okie is a very confident dog. He is dominant in the kennels and tries to control every situation by barking. When proper leadership is applied to him, he will relax and not continue his dominant behaviour. He requires a strong confident guardian who will give him much needed exercise and training. Currently he is dominant towards other dogs and barks at them, which is seen as defensive aggressive behaviour. With proper training and leadership this will not be a problem in the future. Please see staff for more details on his rehabilitation.
