My Story

Name: Okie Age: 1 year old (estimated) Sex: Neutered Male Weight: 22 lbs Energy Level: 8/10 Videos: [https://photos.app.goo.gl/vELfV84suCU7mzaBA] Rescue Story: Okie was rescued from an illegal slaughterhouse in Hongsung, South Korea. He is currently being fostered locally. The approved applicant will have a two-week trial period to ensure a good match and commitment. Personality and Socialization: - With Adults: Okie is social and friendly with both male and female adults. He tends to jump when he gets excited. - With Dogs: Okie gets along well with both small and large dogs. He enjoys playing with big dogs but can be scared of aggressive dogs. - With Children: Okie has not had interactions with young children yet. Due to his high energy level and tendency to jump, he would do best in a home without very young children. He is suitable for families with children of elementary school age and older. Home Life and Behavior: - Separation Anxiety: Okie has separation anxiety, which has improved with consistent training and positive reinforcement from his foster family. The adopting family will need to continue this training to help him adjust. - Leash Skills: Generally good on a leash and responds well to gentle tugging when he pulls. - Bathing and Dental Hygiene: Okie enjoys flavored toothpaste for toothbrushing. - House Training: Okie goes outside for number 2 and uses a wee pad for number 1 about 80% of the time. - Favorite Activities: Okie loves playing tug-a-war, fetching balls, and solving treat puzzles. He enjoys duck feet treats and wooden chew toys. - Barking: Okie barks when someone enters the house. Daily Routine: - Morning: Wakes up at 6 AM for a walk, followed by breakfast and a nap. - Afternoon: Has a one-hour walk between 12 PM and 1 PM, followed by lunch and another nap. - Evening: Goes to the dog park between 5 PM and 6 PM for 1.5 to 2 hours, then returns home for dinner, playtime, and bedtime. Ideal Home: Due to his high energy level, Okie would thrive in an active family that can engage him in physical play and activities. He needs a home where he is not left alone for more than 5 hours a day, as he gets bored easily. A patient family that can help him adjust to new environments and handle occasional accidents with understanding would be ideal. While Okie is not suitable for homes with very young children, he would do well with dog-savvy children of elementary school age or older. Ideally, his family would be active, able to take him to the dog park frequently, and preferably have someone who works from home. Okie can be a bit jealous and has some separation anxiety, so a home where he is not left alone for long periods would be best.
