My Story
PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL US! OUR EMAIL IS NOT WORKING AND WE WILL NOT RECEIVE IT. CONTACT INFORMATION IS IN THE POST.
We are so VERY sad to say that our sweet OAKLEY is in need of another loving home. He was adopted from our rescue 3 years ago by a wonderful family who shared with us that they have been blindsided by a very serious family, medical situation that would deprive Oakley of the commitment they have enjoyed making to him since adoption. Everyone is devastated!
Oakley is completely house trained and follows commands. He loves to take walks and walks well on a leash. His family describes him as medium energy. His former mom was not a dog person until she met and adopted this precious dog mostly for the children. Now, no one loves and enjoys him more than his mom. To know him is truly to love and appreciate him.
He is a very handsome, purebred Beagle boy. I am including his original Petfinder post that attracted the hearts of his present family, so you can know as much of his back story as we know.
So, if you think this Beagle boy is as precious as we do, please contact us for an adoption application. MESSAGE Diana at (901) 299-9191 for more information and updates.
ORIGINAL POST:
Just in case anyone wonders, OAKLEY is why we do what we do as a rescue. Emaciated, hungry, infested with fleas, ticks and intestinal parasites, and looking for help, this very sweet natured Beagle boy wandered onto the rural property of the certified tech who works at our vet clinic. Michelle contacted us, sent us pictures, and asked could we please help this boy by taking him into our rescue. We would never say no to those who take such compassionate care of our many rescues and 7 personal dogs. Besides, who with a heart could possibly turn a blind eye? Welcome, OAKLEY, to Grace Rescue!
Oakley is our most recent intake. He is so relieved finally to receive the help he was begging for. We now have pictures just taken today of this handsome boy, but we leave one picture taken before rescue, showing how emaciated he was, so you can fully appreciate how far he has come in just three weeks. Did we not tell you that you would not recognize this boy once we complete his needed care and help him gain to a healthy weight? Other pictures and posts of this now handsome boy can be found on our rescue Facebook page.
Oakley is estimated to be only about 3 years old—great age! He is now fully vaccinated, was given a medicated bath for his flea allergy dermatitis, Bravecto flea/tick preventative to kill and give him relief from the fleas and ticks, an oral worm medication, started Doxycycline for any possible tickborne disease, started Keflex for skins infections, had his infected ears cleaned and packed with Claro (an antibiotic ear ointment), drew blood for an IDEXX blood panel, started Interceptor heartworm preventative which also contains wormer for all intestinal parasites, and was given a steroid injection to give him immediate relief from intense itching. About the only break he caught was that he tested negative for heartworms, but that is huge! The neglect this boy suffered before rescue is sobering. This boy is already looking like a world class Beagle as we continue his medical care. And, we made a promise to him that he will never be in that shape again. He has been neutered, and he is now completely healed.
His caregivers at our clinic have these remarks to say about Oakley:
*“He is doing very well. He has gained some weight. His coat has a nice shine. He is a very nice boy.”
*“He is a gentleman and so handsome now.”
“Oh, handsome Oakley. He has such a wonderful, gentlemenly way about him. He is definitely one of my favorite rescues to take care of.”
We should tell you that our Beagles are VERY popular, as you can tell from all the “adoption pending” notices. If you think you may be interested in this handsome Beagle boy, please write us for an adoption application. Please apply only if you are a serious adopter and plan on completing our adoption application.
We take great care in the placement of our companion animals and work hard to find as near perfect match as possible between our dogs and their potential adopters. We want our dogs to be loved and well cared for, but we also want our dog to bring great joy to his/her new family and be everything they are looking for in a new family member. If you are smitten with Oakley and his story, and who wouldn’t be, please contact us!
