Oakley

Oakley is approximately 2 years old and weighed 70.6 pounds when he went in to be neutered on March 25, 2009. He is a very handsome guy, who just wants to have fun and play with the other dogs. But he also loves getting and giving attention from the volunteers too. Oakley needs some work on the leash as we do not think he has ever wore a collar or been walked much. He is a smart boy though and seems to catch onto things quickly so with a little work, he will be great on a leash. We do not think that Oakley has met a dog or person that he hasn't liked. The volunteers love him as he is so friendly. He gets along well with all of the dogs that he has met at LP and he just loves to run and play with them.

Oakley and Hawkeye, a Basset, are best of friends. They were found together running on a busy road. They grieve for each other when not together or if one is in the kennel and the other isn't, they will sit by each other and cry. It would be so wonderful if they could find a home together.

April 4, 2009 UPDATE:
Oakley was one of LP's ambassadors at the Doggie Bunny Hop at Murphy Dog Park. He met everyone who came to the booth and went up to greet people as he was walking around seeing the sights. Everyone fell in love with this very gentle and loving boy. When one of our volunteers was sitting down, he gently put his front paws on their lap to get some attention. Oakley also did wonderful with all the dogs at the event. He is a special dog.
