OAKIE

This beautiful boy is Okie - he is 2 1/2 years old, and he is a shepherd mix with long fur. Okie is currently in New England; he was adopted to a family who just didn't end up having the time nor the inclination to give him the attention he deserves. He has had some problems with strangers coming into the house - th family was advised to have the dog evaluated and start training and to be the "alpha's" in the home but they did not follow through.

Okie needs some behavior training (and we have a trainer that will work with you) and he needs exercise; we think this was part of his problem - he was alone all day even though the family that adopted him said they'd get him exercise; he should have a home with a fenced in yard or at least live with someone who is very on the go and cna take him with them or exercise him strongly every day.

Okie may do best in a home with no small children, older children would be fine, but he may accidentally knock a small child over in his excitement. He seems to bond very strongly to "his people" because of this, we think that he would probably be happiest as an only dog - he would probably be fine with another female dog, but would rather not compete for your attention!

Okie loves to swim, and also enjoys car rides and walks. He is a smart boy, and will be easy to train.

Medical: Neutered, current on vaccinations, successfully treated for heartworm.
